Geologically one of the most interesting places in the world, Nevada is characterized by numerous mountain ranges, hot springs and geothermal activity, playas and sagebrush oceans. In the far south, the Great Basin gives way to the Mojave Desert, with its Joshua trees, desert tortoises, and red rock canyons. Nevada is home to a rich variety of wildlife across its 110,000 square miles.
